we had a great easter holiday this year. sunday was busy but fun. we went to church sunday morning and then had easter dinner at mason's grandma's house in loveland. it was a great visit and andrew got to see both his grandma judy and his great grandma wendt. andrew is really a lucky kid because he has so many grandparents that love him so much! :)

i found this outfit at walmart on the clearance rack and it was a lucky find! i've been all over town (well sort-of) looking for some dressier outfits but he's in a hard to find size right now. he's pretty much outgrown all of his newborn stuff so he's wearing 0-3 month stuff now. all i can seem to find in the 0-3 size is sleepers so i was very happy to come across this little outfit. now if i can just find something to bless him in ...
mason and i decided to extend the holiday too this year and we celebrated a little more yesterday. the easter bunny came (after stopping at walmart for half price goods!) and we all got easter baskets. i made a traditional easter dinner with ham, scalloped potatoes, asparagus, deviled eggs, etc. the ham... that is a funny story. we bought a precooked ham so i just basically needed to warm it up. we've done it twice before but mason has always taken care of that part of the meal while i was doing other things. well, since he was at work i obviously had to do it all. you would think that just warming up a ham that has already been cooked isn't that difficult but i found it surprising difficult! to start off with, i couldn't find any directions such as how long to cook it, how high to put the oven on, etc. so i found some vague instructions online and followed them. due to the weight on the ham i figured i needed to cook it for 2.5 to 3 hours. about half way through it was looking really dry but none of the instructions i read online said anything about adding liquid so i just kept cooking it (in some respects, i follow instructions way
too closely). a couple times i wanted to call mason at work and ask him how exactly he had done it before but i could just see his co-workers laughing as he tried to explain to his wife how to cook a ham over the phone. pride is not a good thing! anyway, the ham did turn out dry on the outside layers. we joked about having ham jerky! the inside layers of the ham were really good though and the rest of the meal was good. we're very much looking forward to all the leftovers! i think next year i'll put an inch or two of pineapple juice in the bottom of the pan and see how that turns out. :) family home evening was also about easter so it was a very good easter this year!
