a few days ago, mason and i were downstairs working on something or other on the computer. andrew was up in the living room playing with some toys. time passed and i thought, "wow! andrew is playing really well by himself!" some more time passed and i thought, "ok, what's going on up there?" i went upstairs to find andrew crouched in the corner.

we've got candy canes on our christmas tree as decorations. by the time i realized what was going on, andrew was into his 2nd candy cane. "mmm! i like!" andrew told me when i reached the scene of the crime. it made me laugh! especially because the night before when mason and i were decorating the tree after putting andrew to bed, mason said, 'let's not let anders have a candy cane until we're going to take the tree down. if he tastes one and knows what they are, he won't leave them alone." so that was our plan... plus we didn't realize that andrew could reach as far as he could...

i tried to get the sticky mess of a kid into the kitchen to finish before he got more sticky on the carpet, coffee table, his sweater, etc. but you would have thought that i cancelled christmas. let's just say i got a bit of resistance.

surprizingly though, after eating those two candy canes that day, he's totally stayed away from them! at least i think... i did notice a bare spot this morning.
