we took anders to the doctor on tuesday for his 2 year check-up and he's doing great! they always have us fill out a developmental questionnaire and it's been fun to see his progress. they ask questions about how he's playing, eating, walking, talking, etc and then want you to answer "always", "sometimes" or "not yet". when we first started filling out the questionnaires (i think the first one was at 6 months), he hardly had any always', a few sometimes' and a lot of not yet's. but as he's gotten older, he's slowly been catching up and this time he had a majority of always', one or two sometimes, and only one not yet (he rarely refers to himself using i, me, etc). the doctor said he's right where he needs to be for his age and so we're thrilled that he has no lasting effect from his preemie-ness.

the big difference at this doctors appointment was that he knew what was going on and he was none too thrilled about it. previously he was curious about what the doctor was doing and played along and this time he just wanted the doctor and nurse to stay away! it was difficult to get all his measurements and check his ears, eyes, etc. because he wanted no part of it! he kept asking that we open the door and then he figured out that he could open the door by himself so that was interesting!
