there's no mistaking that anders loves the water. so when a group of relatives headed down to the river after lunch, we went along knowing that andrew would love it. there's a pretty good swimming spot although we never ventured out that far. anders would have loved too but... well, i have to squelch the fun every once in a while. we still had a great time though and even just getting my feet wet felt great!
anders was getting so dare-devilsy that we decided we'd better put a life jacket on, just in case. it was too big but we thought that if he did fall, it would come up over his head quite a bit without coming off and then would protect him like a helmet. so it was twice the safety! just kidding. please don't take that seriously. 
the life jacket was not very well received as you can see...
but i did take him out a little deeper since he had it on. the problem was that he wouldn't hold on to my hands. he wanted to walk on his own. crazy kid. so after fighting that for a while, we headed back to shallower water.and then the big boys found the best thing ever! MUD!! and you know that anders was right there with them! he was, by two years, the youngest in the bunch but he didn't care. he thinks he's six!
he was in a little over his head!
and finally he retreated!
but not before getting good and muddy!!! it was pure inspiration that i packed extra clothes for him that day.
a toddler's work is never done!
