estes park for our anniverary-moon!

mason and i went to estes park in july to celebrate our 2nd anniversary (a couple months late). we decided a while back that rather than get each other gifts for our anniversary, we would put that money toward a little trip to celebrate and spend some extra time together. and that would be our gift to each other! last year it got included in our trip to north carolina but this year was a little more difficult to plan and actually execute because of anders. it might sound crazy but i didn't necessarily want to take him with us but i didn't want to leave him behind either. i knew it would be hard to leave him and it was! i'm grateful for my mom for coming and staying with him so we could go. i really appreciated and was grateful for the time that mason and i had to spend together, just the two of us.

we really lucked out with where we stayed. i found it online and the price was reasonable so i made the reservations. when we got there we were super excited because it was gorgeous! it was right next to the river, a little bit out of town, quiet, the people were super friendly and it was CLEAN (the most important part, really)! we really enjoyed our stay there. it's an adult only hotel (which must of have been the reason why it was quiet) so if it's only mason and i again sometime, we'll definitely stay there.

mason and i sat by the river and talked for an hour or so before we went out to dinner. it was SO nice!

we went and played mini-golf and i got so excited when on one of the first holes, i got a hole in one! that almost never happens so i asked mason to take a picture. but you think i could have put the putter down ... such an awkward pose.

then mason got one, a hole in one that is, not too long after that! we're not totally sure who won because not too many holes after this one i lost my ball. oops!

the next day we drove into rocky mountain national park. it was SO gorgeous! we had a great time driving around. we intended to do some hiking but i forgot good shoes so that put a little damper on that. i always forget something...

this picture is in honor of my dad and my grandpa. we thought they'd get a kick out of this tree.

we walked around downtown estes and went in a bunch of the shops there. the christmas shop had this tree and when i saw it, i had to take a picture of it. :)

mason and i had a great time! it was SO nice to be together and to just concentrate on each other. i'm already looking forward to next year! :)
