adventures with mice

i'm writing from our front porch because i can't bear it to be inside right now. i'm trying not to be such a girl but my efforts are in vain... here's the story...

yesterday while making sunday dinner, mason and i noticed evidence of mice being in one of our drawers. we have a drawer that is full of pasta and rice and we noticed that a mouse (or mice) had been in there. we were disappointed but not surprised. both of us actually kind-of expected it. we got lucky last year and didn't have any visitors (other than the squirrels in the spring but that's another story). so mason set some traps and sure enough, this morning both traps were full. he set them again and we went about our day. i thought i heard them go off this morning before i went to class but i didn't think too much about it since they're hidden and i really don't have to mess with it. well, i got home from class this afternoon and pretty quickly started noticing some strange noises coming from the drawers. after about the third or fourth time, i realized that we probably a caught some poor mouse but he wasn't dead yet. i don't want to go into too much detail but i think you get my drift.

i called mason at work and thankfully he decided to come home and take care of it (bless his heart). i tried to do some homework while waiting for mason but i couldn't stand listening to it. so i went into the office which is furthest from the kitchen and i tried to make some calls for my job, but i still kept hearing the poor thing. i just couldn't stand it so i grabbed the laptop and now i'm out on the front porch waiting for mason. i'm thankful it's such a nice day! :)

i'm kind-of embarrassed that i had to call mason home from work early and everything just to take care of this but i don't do mice. i can handle spiders and i can handle (i think) snakes but i don't do mice. now i know why i wasn't a pioneer! i wouldn't have made it!
