LaVeta Loca!

Mason and I went and visited family over the Labor Day weekend in LaVeta, Colorado (southwest of Pueblo). It's a really small town - I think there's only about 900 people living there - and it's so cute! I always really enjoy going there. Plus the area is absolutely beautiful. I remember the first time I went there, Mason and I were engaged. I knew it was south of Pueblo so I was thinking that LaVeta would be in the middle of the desert or something. We drove in after dark so I didn't see any of the surrounding area. The next morning, I was stunned by how gorgeous it was! It was completely different from what I'd expected. Anyway... here's some pics from our trip. :)


On Saturday, Craig (Mason's dad) took the family for a drive out to Tercio Ranch where he works. I think it's about an hour from LaVeta. Craig is working on the ranch doing fire reclamation work helping the ranch to recover from a large fire in 2002 (I think). On the way up there, we saw a bear in the brush not too far from the road! I think that's the closest I've ever been to a bear (outside of the zoo of course).

And on the way home, guess what we saw.... another bear! This one was up in a tree! You have to look close to see it. :)On Monday, Ryan, Austin, Logan and Keeley took Mason and I fishing to a reservoir not far from their house. It was beautiful that morning! I haven't fished too often in my life time so I was happy when Ryan offered to show me a little bit about it. Logan caught two good-sized fish and Keeley caught a large one (but the line broke and it got a way). She was so cute! Logan didn't like putting the worm on the hook so Keeley baited the hook for him!

Here's another belly shot... I think I really grew over the weekend! I sure ate enough... :)
I brought a pair of short pants to wear on Saturday that I had just worn on Monday. Granted they were a little tight on Monday (everything is getting tight) but on Saturday I couldn't button them or zip them! Good thing they also have a draw string and I packed a long shirt to go with them!
